My memories of the Pope

Like the rest of the blog-o-sphere I am reflecting on Pope John Paul II.

I remember him being shot by the Muslim Turk, Mehmet Ali Agca, and being surprised by the forgiveness. I remember his efforts to bring down the Berlin Wall with words of kindness and honor. I respected his efforts to clean his house of pedophiles even when it made the church look bad. I also remember his outreach to other faiths especially the Jewish community. Mostly I remember his humanity and his humor. He loved music, movies, art and break dancing of all things.

Mostly I remember respect and dignity.

During his funeral you won't see raving, chanting men, firing AK-47s into the air. No burning flags. No riots.
